My recent term on Council made clear how strong and united our union could be.
To get there, we must transform the WGA into a democratic, transparent, and empowering member-driven union where true solidarity can thrive.
I’m a nonfiction television and film writer, organizer, and former Councilmember. I’m fighting to strengthen our union by ensuring genuine rank-and-file oversight, so that no member is ever left behind.
Having witnessed firsthand the fundamental problems with opaque and unaccountable leadership, I’m running for reelection to Council so members can hold those in power accountable and win real gains for all writers.
In Council I will fight to institute consistent membership meetings with leadership, giving our rank-and-file the ability to voice their ideas and concerns, and to democratically participate in and observe the functioning and operations of our union.
Our union is our union.
It exists because of our members, and should function because of our members.
That is why all rank-and-file members should be aware of Council’s actions, and should be able to fully participate in the operations of our union.
We should all have a voice,
and I’m running to make sure you do.
I’m running for Council to strengthen our union through essential democracy, transparency, and reciprocal solidarity across all genres of television and film.
In order to face the immense struggles that lie ahead, our union must be as strong as possible, and we must not be afraid to hold those in leadership accountable—they should always be acting on behalf of our rank and file.
With a lack of accountability, WGA leadership has allowed for a fragmented, tiered union to develop as the AMPTP exploits MBA loopholes.
We must work together to fix this by winning MBA coverage for all under-organized writers—nonfiction, reality, animation, game shows, and comedy/variety—so they stand alongside their fellow members with equal protections.
