2025 Council Election: E-Blast # 2

Fellow WGA Members,

We’re off to see the 2026 MBA Negotiations—or at least what leadership hopes we’ll see. But pull back the curtain, and their usual levers and buttons aren’t working. In truth, they never really did.

The power of our union has never come from an elite circle hand-picked by another elite circle. It doesn’t come from a polished elevator pitch or a perfect logline. And it certainly doesn’t come from striking a deal with the devil.

Our power comes from all of us—rank-and-file members—coming together to fight for what we all need and deserve, individually and collectively.

Instead, leadership has wrongly convinced themselves that they are the true source of power. That self-deception has left us where we are today: falling further behind each MBA cycle, grasping for crumbs while studios feast.

And as our union lags, officials grow more desperate for top-down measures to keep control—normalizing opaque quid-pro-quo dealmaking, even declaring Labor Day to be “brought to you by unions” rather than by the laborers themselves.

To fully realize the power we already hold, we must transform this top-down Guild into a member-driven union—one where members dictate their own future. If you want to be part of building those necessary changes, reach out to the Writers Guild Autonomous Rank-and-file Caucus (WGARC).

I would be grateful for your vote to help put the balance of power back where it belongs: in the hands of members. For more information about my campaign, please read my first e-blast and my Candidate Statement.

In true solidarity,
Benjamin Rosenblum
